Losing weight is not easy, especially in Winter. Setting up a food strategy and an exercise plan sounds all too difficult doesn’t it? Well then, just give in. Don’t even worry about losing weight this Winter…
Food strategy
Food log
Don’t keep one – you might cringe at all the fast food and chocolate you list each day. You can’t risk eating healthy food 5-6 times a day – which would actually help you to lose weight.
Portion size
The bigger the better! You might as well fill up to keep you going all day. Do this if you love having mood swings and enjoy binge eating.
Snacks
Eat ice-cream, chips, and donuts, instead of the wholesome, nutritious stuff like fruit, yoghurt, and homemade popcorn. Don’t even attempt to lose weight through healthy food substitutions.
Bulk up
Indulge in fried chicken, fish & chips, and as much pizza as you can eat. Don’t bother about filling up on vegetables and soups packed barley and lentils. There are just too many vitamins and minerals in there. And after all, counting calories won’t help you lose weight!
Stay hydrated
Drink coke, fruit juice (with no real fruit in sight), and anything else loaded with empty calories. Forget about mineral water. Don’t go anywhere near tea. Those are too boring. Never mind that they would help you to burn calories by flushing out toxins, and would also reduce muscle and joint soreness while exercising.
Cooking
Get take-away. Cooking hearty healthy home-cooked food from scratch takes way too much effort! It’s so much more fun to gather around take-away boxes every night, instead of chopping and laughing around the kitchen bench. Definitely don’t read about the 5 Great reasons to cook at home.
Dessert
You have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) – the psychologists have given you permission to eat cake, custard, ice-cream, chocolate and as much white flour as humanly possible. Don’t touch any dessert with fruit, almond meal, or less than 2 cups of sugar in it.
Exercise plan
Exercise program
Tear it up! You have no need for regular activity that gets your heart pumping and keeps your body warm. And don’t even attempt a midday walk to get your fill of the sunshine vitamin.
Winter blues
Indulge in it, it only happens 1 season a year! Who needs “feel good” chemicals like serotonin and dopamine? Not to mention cortisol: the key to health and weight loss. Those will just make you feel great, relaxed, and happy.
Cold weather
Winter is the perfect time to be sedentary, go outside as little as possible, just plonk yourself in front of the heater and watch dvds at every opportunity.
Bah! to creative and fun indoor exercise programs like Winter interval training and this Body weight circuit.
Leave the crisp mornings for the people that actually want to breathe fresh air, and the regular exercisers who enjoy having stronger immune systems!
So there you have it, some reasons why you shouldn’t bother to lose weight duringWinter!
(And in case you decide to go the other way, and, dare I say it – get fit – or lose weight – during Winter, you may find a few ideas if you re-read this article.)
Either way, good luck!
